个旧大厂锡矿床成矿条件、找矿方法及远景研究是1981年10月由国家科委组织专家组论证后下达的国家《六五》地质攻关任务。研究工作由中国有色金属工业总公司矿产地质研究院负责,西南有色地质勘探公司、广西有色地质勘探公司、桂林冶金地质学院和中国地质科学院矿床地质研究所、中国科学院地球化学研究所等单位参加,有矿床地质、找矿标型矿物学、同位素地质、成矿地质实验、地球物理探矿、地球化学探矿等专业科技干部160多人,其中工程师、讲师、助理研究员以上科技干部97人,联合攻关,并运用地质测试技术、数理统计、遥感技术、重力、航磁、地磁、电法、化探等方法手段协同研究,历时4年,提交了科研成果。1986年10月该项目获中国有色金属工业总公司科技成果一等奖,并于1987年7月15日经国家科技进步奖评审委员会审定,“长江中下游铜、硫、金、银资源重大发现与个旧、大厂锡矿成矿条件、找矿方法及远景”科研成果评为国家科学技术进步奖特等奖,也是第二次国家科技进步奖评选出的唯一的民用(?)特等奖。
