According to a budget approved by the Canberra Federal Parliament, Australia’s defense spending for the next fiscal year is A$8.97 billion ($7.2 billion). This means an increase of 5.5% over the previous year’s actual expenditure of A$8.4 billion. Last year, the actual expenditure on defense expenditure fell by 0.5%. The new budget that was extended to June 30, 1991, after deducting the inflation factor, actually returned to the so-called “real zero growth” state of the Ministry of Finance.
