Cadmium is a common environmental pollutant in daily life. It can cause toxicity to the kidney, lung, liver, testis, brain, bone and blood system and has carcinogenic effects. Recent studies also found that it has the role of environmental endocrine disruptors. The specific mechanism of the toxic effects of cadmium has not yet been determined. Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) is one of the important signal transduction systems in vivo. As a subfamily of MAPKs, p38MAPK is a serine / threonine-containing protein kinase that is widely found in the cytoplasm. Can be activated by a variety of extracellular stress, mediated cell growth, development, differentiation and death process. Recent studies have found that the mechanism of cadmium toxicity and p38MAPK activation is closely related.
