“Avatar”， “Transformers” and “Iron Man”， do you know how were the countless wonderful shot in these movies filmed？ Actually many of the special effects are not recorded by video camera， but by the computers. Ten years ago， as the special effect of digital movie were newly implanted in the films， Beijing Film Academy keenly found special status of the post-production of the computer in the future movies， therefore established the Department of Film and TV Technology， which is a leading major in film technology. Ten years later， the magazine reporter of "knowledge is power" ， who also likes films of special effect arrived at Beijing Film Academy to interview the group of people who create the movie miracles with computers in detail.

The establishment of the department of film and television technology in Beijing Film Academy， just encountered the digital transformation of the film production. It was also the important historical period of the rapid development of digital movies in China. As the film market in China was rapidly developing， the introduction of foreign films and the improvement of the audiences asked for higher and higher demands on the Chinese film’s technology. China's film production technologies are facing unprecedented challenges both in scientific research and in the field of practice. In such a historical background， the Beijing Film Academy integrated the domestic resources in and around the school， use the technical force of all the departments， set up the film and TV technology department.

Both Arts and Science
Although the film and television technology major belongs to the category of art according to the professional direction by the ministry of education， it still has big differences from the pure arts disciplines seen from its own professional characteristics and the talents training target， it integrates more requirements of the science and engineering discipline. Therefore in the process of selecting talents， the special art features are not the point for testing. By contrast， the scope to select the students if broad， but the basic requirement is that the examinee must have attainments of study， the spirit of cooperation， so that they will have better potential for development in the future. Love for movies， the hobby of film technology， hard drive， pleasant personality， good at cooperation， comprehensive quality of all-around development， these are not only the requirement for students of Beijing Film Academy， but also the key of success for all the filmmakers.

Behind the Scenes
The department tries to cultivate compound film talents with film art literacy， mastering the theories and skills of digital movie technology. After graduation， these students will be able to shoot videos， do post-production， release the movies and provide technical supports. See from the graduate students， they work in a wide range， such the field of film production， distribution， radio and television， digital media and so on. Some of the graduates have cut figures in the film production field， some have become the backbones of the domestic main production companies， institutions of management and research， they have got outstanding achievements and good reputations.
Song Qiang
From Dream To Reality
Song Qiang， graduated from Beijing Film Academy in 2005， entered the Chinese Movie Research Institution. He has written and published many papers about film technical. At the same time， he has drew up the country standards of the film industry， he is now mainly engaged in image creation.
Niu XiaoMing， graduated from the department of film and television， Beijing Film Academy， is now engaged in the state general administration of press and publication. He is now working in the digital film program management center for project design and management， etc.
Zhang Gen， entered the film and television technology department of Beijing Film Academy in 2005. After graduation， he worked in the Shidianteyi Corporation as a colorist， now he is working as a toning guidance in the PO Zhaoting Corporation. During the 6 years， he has undertaken the toning work of more than 50 movies， including “Chinese Partners”， “If You Are The One”， “ The Wind “， “Global Madly in Love”， “the Xinhai Revolution”， “the Thirteen Jinling Women”， “Cherish Our Love Forever”， etc.
