起夜上厕所是一件令人讨厌的事情。刊登在近日英国《每日邮报》上的一项新研究发现,经常吃西红柿,可以帮助中老年男性缓解尿频,减少起夜次数。澳大利亚昆士兰研究中心的科学家选取了57名40~80岁的男性为研究对象。他们先评估了这些人的健康状况和起夜次数,然后让其服用了含有番茄红素成分的药丸,但没有告诉他们是什么药物。3个月后,这些男性起夜次数减少了三分之一,膀胱的整体功能得到了很大改善。
Starting the night to go to the bathroom is a nuisance. A new study published in the recent “Daily Mail” in the UK found that eating tomatoes regularly helps middle-aged and elderly men relieve frequent urination and reduce the number of midnight starts. Scientists at the Queensland Research Center in Australia selected 57 men aged 40 to 80 as study subjects. They first assessed the health status and number of nights they started and then asked them to take pills containing lycopene but did not tell them what the drug was. Three months later, these men had a one-third reduction in the number of starts and the overall bladder function was greatly improved.
