从1995年起,我经常驻扎在陕北延川,研究窑洞的营造技艺,记录石匠、木匠、风水先生和窑洞居民的生活、文化传统。我特别喜欢『营造法式』这个词,它代表的不仅是一种建造技艺、一种规矩,更是一种人居观。在中国,这个词常常让人联想到结构精细的古建、融汇工匠巧思的古桥、古塔等,窑洞和它们不同,但我认为它是中国的另一种营造法式。 Since 1995, I have been stationed in Yanchuan, Shaanxi Province for a long time. I studied the construction skills of the cave and recorded the life and cultural tradition of masons, carpenters, Feng Shui and cave dwellings. I particularly like the word “to create a French style.” It represents not only a kind of construction skills, a kind of rules, but also a human outlook. In China, the term is often reminiscent of a finely-structured ancient building, an ancient bridge that combines artisans' ingenuity, ancient pagodas and the like. The cave is different from them, but I think it is another style of building for China.
