According to the editor of the Russian Army magazine: As is known to all, Slavs make up more than 80% of the former Soviet military officers. The Slavs are still the majority now in the ranks of officers in most CIS countries. Take the countries of the Central Asian countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States for example. No fewer than 50,000 officers serving in the armed forces of these countries are the Slavs from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. What does this considerable number mean? To what extent do the “Muslim” countries protect the rights of the Slavic service? What proportion of the Slavs’ armies are in these countries? What is the relationship with Russia’s interests?
