金莲花(Tropaeolium majus)又名旱金莲,金莲花科金莲花属多年生蔓性草本。因不耐寒常作一年生栽培。按传统方法栽培,金莲花多长出细长的藤蔓,需人工设架绑缚,令其攀援。这样比较麻烦,增加了工作量,而且千篇一律如此,也显得单调。笔者通过数年实践,摸索出一种不用任何矮壮素而能使其矮化的方法,效果相当不错。矮化后的植株只有20～25厘米高(见上图),且已经开花。这种矮化的金莲花不仅适合家庭栽培,而且是布置花坛、花径、花丛、花带的好材料,可为“五一”增光添彩。
