欧共体和欧洲自由联盟技术标准协调局已颁布法令:决定在1994年内设计出欧洲通用的电源插头和插座,以取代目前二十多种不统一的电源接插件;同时与国际电气化标准委员会(IEC)的标准接轨。新的电源插头和插座将以IEC906～1为基础。官方预计,这个标准的转换过程将需10年,同时告知生产厂家:凡向欧洲出口的电源插头插座,必需服从新标准的实施。
The European Community and European Liberal Union Technical Standards Coordination Bureau has issued a decree: Decided to design the universal power plugs and sockets in Europe in 1994 to replace the current more than 20 kinds of non-uniform power connectors; and with the International Electrification Standards Committee ( IEC) standards. New power plugs and sockets will be based on IEC906-1. According to official estimates, the standard conversion process will take 10 years and at the same time inform the manufacturer that all power plugs and outlets exported to Europe must obey the implementation of the new standard.
