由中国科学院与中国石油天然气总公司联合兴办的渗流流体力学研究所,以丰硕的应用科技成果解决了石油工业的许多难题,探索出符合我国国情的基础科学研究与经济建设相结合的成功之路,受到了科技部门的充分重视.80年代中期,国家在要求经济建设要依靠科学技术的同时,提出“应用基础研究必须与产业结合”.中国科学院和原石油工业部负责人在探讨这一问题时,形成一个新的思路:将中科院兰州分院渗流力学研究室整建制搬迁到位于河北廊坊的石油勘探开发研究分院,两家合作组建渗流流体力学研究所.
