Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is widely recognized as a global health issue. However, little is known about OHCA epidemiology in the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) territories.[1,2] The 15 post-Soviet states occupy nearly one-sixth of the land surface of the earth, and the total population exceeds 292 million people. However, there are no sound well-organized systems for continuous epidemiological surveillance and monitoring of emergency medical services (EMS) performance in OHCA. An OHCA registry would have the potential benefit of identifying ways to improve OHCA survival rates.

BACKGROUND: Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) is used in the emergency department to guide resuscitation during cardiac arrest. Insertion of a TEE transducer requires manual skill and experience, yet in some residency programs cardiac arrest is uncom
BACKGROUND: Elevated troponin I (TnI) is common among trauma patients. TnI is an indicator of myocardial injury, but clinical diagnosis of blunt cardiac injury cannot be based solely on an increase in TnI. Therefore, this study aims to explore the changes

Radiologic imaging is a diagnostic tool that greatly affects patient outcomes,[1] and with the recent development of imaging technology, advanced imaging tests such as computed tomography (CT) have gained widespread accessibility in hospitals. In particul

In China, there are 544,000 sudden deaths each year. Cardiac arrest is one of the most common causes of sudden death, and 70% of cardiac arrests occur outside the hospital.[1,2] However, fewer than 1% of bystanders at cardiac arrest deaths in China are we
