晏阳初,四川巴中人,受母亲“男儿志在四方……出去好好读书,见见世面”的影响,晏阳初1913年就读于香港圣保罗书院(香港大学前身),1916年转入美国耶鲁大学,后又入普林斯顿大学研究院,攻历史学,获硕士学位。1920年8月,晏阳初回国,投身平民教育运动,号召“除文盲、做新民”。1923年3月26日,他组织成立了中华平民教育促进会(以下简称“平教会”),任总干事。
Yan Yangchu, a native of Sichuan Province, was influenced by the influence of his mother, “Boys Magazine in the Quartet ... Going out to study hard and meeting the world.” Yan Yangchu studied at the St. Paul’s College in Hong Kong (predecessor of the Hong Kong University) in 1913 and was transferred to the United States in 1916. Yale University, then Princeton University Institute, history, master’s degree. In August 1920, Yan Yangchu returned to China and joined the civilian education movement, calling for “In addition to illiteracy, Xinmin ”. March 26, 1923, he organized the establishment of the Chinese Civilian Education Association (hereinafter referred to “Peace Church ”), served as the Director General.
