英国国家书目文献服务中心(BNBS)成立于1989年。目前的服务对象为英国及世界97个国家的图书馆和资助机构。该中心海外的最大用户为美国,其次为德国、爱尔兰、意大利、澳大利亚、加拿大、丹麦、法国、日本及荷兰。 英国国家书目文献服务中心最初为英国图书馆书目文献服务部的一部分。该部的业务范围涉及合法存放(Legal deposit)、编目、书目文献档案交易、用户赞助及电讯基础结构等项。该部后又改组为采访、加工、编目、计算机与电讯及国家书目文献服务中心几个部分。
The British National Bibliographic Service Center (BNBS) was established in 1989. Currently serving clients in 97 countries in the UK and in the world as libraries and subvented organizations. The center’s largest overseas user is the United States, followed by Germany, Ireland, Italy, Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Japan and the Netherlands. The British National Bibliographic Documentation Service Center was originally part of the British Library Bibliographic Services Department. The Department’s activities cover Legal deposit, cataloging, bibliographic transactions, user sponsorship and telecommunications infrastructure. The department was later reorganized into interviews, processing, cataloging, computer and telecommunications and national bibliographic services center several parts.
