Porphyrin-based nanorings have been used as photosynthetic light-harvesting antenna model,since they show efficient intramolecular excitation energy transfer along the wheel-like structures.[1] While subporphyrin[2] can be a potential chromophore unit in cyclic photosynthetic antenna model because of its intensive absorption and highly fluorescent properties,no such system has been explored before.Herein,we devote to report the syntheses of 2,6-pyridylene-bridged β-to-β subporphyrin nanoring dimer,trmers,and tetramers via a stepwise sequence of Suzuki–Miyaura cross coupling reactions.Both dimeric and trimeric structures of subporphyrins were revealed by X-ray diffraction analysis.The UV/Vis absorption spectra of these subporphyrin oligomers were red-shifted and more intensified upon the increase in the number of subporphyrin units.
