The accuracy and interchangeability of gear has an impact on the working performance of transmission, and the parameters measurement plays an important role in the current mechanical industries.As a new style measurement technique, it is indispensable to take the machine vision technique into the diameter measurement for spur gear.Based on it, this paper proposes a new method for diameter measurement of spur gear.Firstly getting the parameter matrix by camera calibration, and transforming the feature points in pixel from the computer image coordinate to the 3D world coordinate, mean distance between the sample points and the center is regarded as the last result.The analysis on calibration and measurement experiment demonstrates that the method is simple, quick,easy to implement, and rarely limited to the size of target.
