  Background: Depression screening in primary practice and community health service is a tool of suicide prevention.The objective of our study systematically reviewed accuracy in depression screening for suicidal ideation in their population.Methods: We searched Medline and PsyclNFO (articles published from January 1990 to April 2011) for epidemiological study excluded inpatient and patient with severe illness.We summarized study population, sex, age group, definition of suicidal ideation, type of screening tool, sensitivity and specificity, cut-off scores and other accuracy indicators.Results: We found 9 eligible articles from searched databases.Screening of depression in older primacy care accuracy identified for suicidal ideation (sensitivity range 0.70-0.88, specificity range 0.70-0.87).Conclusion: Screening of depression in older primacy care would be an effectiveness tool for suicidal prevention in older primacy care.Other settings were unclear More research is required to investigate accuracy of depression screening for suicidal ideation in other population.
