  There has been an increased interest in developing alternative non-chemical methods for disinfesting rice under growing international pressures to replace chemical fumigation due to its adverse effects on human health and environment.Radiofrequency (RF) power was selected as it can be applied to induce well controlled,lethal thermal energy levels,rapidly,efficiently,and throughout the whole mass of rice with minimal physical and chemical changes.A pilot-scale 27.12 MHz,3kw RF unit was used to optimize the processs disinfestation efficiency and investigate consequent quality attributes in treated rice.The sample was treated under different distance between the two electrodes (40 mm,45 mm,50 mm,55 mm,60 mm).
