Tolerance to shade stress was investigated in two Cucumis sativus,Shandongmici and Yuhuanggua 2#,both of which are Chinese long,grown at 25℃/18℃,100 or 25 μmol m-2s-1 for 20 days after germination.Shandongmici,the tolerant genotype,showed an enhanced to shade stress compared to Yuhuanggua 2#,the sensitive genotype,when grown at normal temperature and weak sun light.During the shade treatment,or decreasing light intensity,stem diameter became thin,all of leaf fresh weight,dry weight and the ratio of dry weight to fresh weight decreased gradually,while leaf area and the ratio of leaf area to mass increased.
