Insight in the genetic control of heritable phenotypes is important to implement strategies for the rapid improvement in the qualitative and quantitative features of many livestock species.Genetic variants linked to observable diversity of important traits in a population (being subjected to directional or divergent selection can be identified from the estimates of genomic diversity indicating pressure of selection.
