Trigeminal sensory system is essential for the orofacial system, and the existence of somatic exocytosis in trigeminal ganglion neurons is well known. While we found that in addition to the classic calcium dependent exocytosis, theres also calcium-independent and voltage-dependent exocytosis, and could be detected in trigeminal ganglion slice using electrophysiology. And the exocytosis could change in response to the CFA-induced inflammation of temporomandibular joint (TMJ).Importantly, with calcium imaging technique, we found the somatic exocytosis in neurons play important roles in the neuron-glia interaction. These finding demonstrated that the exocytosis is very important for the role of trigeminal ganglion neurons for its orofacial pathophysiological function.
