A high-grade of ferronickel was prepared using the reducing-magnetic separation method from the laterite nickel ore at below the conventional smelting temperature due to the addition of special additive.The research showed that the use of additive SA accelerated the reducing reaction and growth of ferronickel alloy.The effects of amounts of additive and active carbon, reducing time, reducing temperature on the grades and recoveries of nickel and iron were investigated.The grades of nickel and iron reached 8.31% and 71.5%, and the recoveries of nickel and iron reached 95.44% and 99.84% under the addition of 5% additive SA and 3% active carbon for 120min at1320℃.
