Most insects or birds flight by their flapping wings both with large flapping motion and with small deformation[1,2,3], and wings flexibility may have great influence on its aerodynamics[2,3,4,5,6].However, most numerical studies mainly focus on stiff flapping wing and ignore its flexibility[7,8,9,10].Dynamic mesh deformation technique is widely used for solving unsteady flow problems with small boundary movement[11,12,13].Overset grids can also be used for dynamic grid problems, even those with large flapping motion[14,15,16].But the solution of unsteady flow due to insects flapping flexible wing is not possible by the two means alone unless grid regeneration is employed[7,17].However, even locally, grid regeneration is time-consuming.
