  Preparation of syngas by reforming of biological glycerol on charcoal has been studied in a fixed bed reactor.The results indicatedthat charcoal was a novel kind of catalyst,which not only had an active effect on the reforming process,but can decrease the cost of production.The optimum conditions were obtained at 800℃,S/C of 4,WHSV of 2h-1.The syngas yield,glycerol conversion and H2/CO could reach 1.37m3/kg,76.78%and 3.04 respectively at the optimum conditions.However,abundant of non-converted water in the liquid products led to the reduced gas yield(49.60%)and increased liquid yield(49.13%).Characterizations of fresh charcoaland used charcoal were analyzed with thermogravimetry,scanning electron microscopy and BET.The results indicated that the cokefrom the polymerizationof glycerol might be in an amorphous state,which was the reason of the decrease of surface area and average pore size of charcoal.
