Effects of charge density of polyelectrolyte chain used as colloidal flocculants on the adsorption behavior on to the surface of colloidal particles and subsequent behavior of colloidal destabilization were investigated using normal Polystyrene Latex Particles as a function of ionic strength.Peri-kinetic and ortho-kinetic flocculation experiments were designed in order to elucidate the role of hydrodynamic mixing.Data were taken also as a function of ionic strength. It was found that charge density of polymer chain and the presence of fluid shear is coupled in the result of flocculation degree. In the case of lower charged chain, flocculation is induced only when the presence of hydrodynamic shear. In other cases, flocculation was induced via.bridging or charge neutarization.
