High temperature naphthenic acid corrosion is one of the problems urgently to be solved in oil refining industry at present in the world.Because the influence factors of the naphthenic acid corrosion is very complex,many problems have yet to form a unified understanding.Outlined the naphthenic acid corrosion mechanism and influencing factors.Generally the increase of total acid number(TAN)is associated with increasing corrosivity.In relation to the temperature,naphthenic acid corrosion occurs at 200℃~400℃.The sulfur compounds have a dual role for naphthenic acid corrosion.The Mo-bearing stainless steels have been regarded as the most efficient materials against naphthenic acid corrosion.The overview provides a theoretical basis for further research in naphthenic acid corrosion.
