The outer membrane proteins (OMPs) are a kind of β-barrel proteins that are located on the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria.Precise understanding of their generation mechanism is biologically important.SurA,Skp,and DegP have been identified as periplasmic chaperones that participate in the translocation of OMPs from inner membrane to outer membrane.Among three chaperones,SurA is reported to play the most important role.
