We discribe a novel multifunctional theranostic agent for bi-mode magnetic resonance imaging, fluorescent imaging and photothermal therapy by loading ICG molecules into the lipid layer of super paramagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (ICG@SPIO Nps) for tumor dianosis and treatment.UV-vis spectra of ICG@SPIO NPs loaded with various amount of ICG verifies the successful loading of ICG and the ICG@SPIO NPs exhibit high encapsulation efficiency and loading capacity toward ICG.TEM images and DLS measurements show ICG@SPIO NPs disperse well in water and have an average diameter of 27.4 nm.
