Background Atherosclerosis is a vascular inflammatory disease, which leads to complications that cause myocardial infarction and stroke.Macrophages play crucial roles in atherosclerotic immune responses.Cellular repressor of E1A-stimulated genes (CREG) is a secretory glycoprotein implicated in cellular growth and differentiation.CREG has been found to antagonizes TNF-α-induced inflammation of vascular endothelial cells.Immunolocalization of endogenous CREG confirmed that intracellular CREG is localized in lysosomes. The aim of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammation effects of CREG on macrophage and the participation of lysosome in the process.
