The global dynamic behaviors of a quasi-Hamiltonian vibro-impact system are studied in this paper.Referring to homoclinic Melnikov function of the quasi-Hamiltonian system, a new subharmonic Melnikov function is constructedby calculating the separation between the pre-impact and post-impact of a subharmonicorbit, which can be used to determine the parametric region of periodic or non-periodic motions.Then anexample is given to illustrate the application of the procedure, and the validity of the function is verified by numerical simulations.
