Background and Aims Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are emerging as a promising therapeutic tool for the treatment of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).Some studies have indicated that the inflammatory microenvironment plays an important role on the effect of MSCs.The analysis of clinical samples from GVHD patients treated by MSCs represents a unique possibility to understand the mechanisms.
