Miniature inverted-repeat transposable elements (MITEs) are truncated derivatives of autonomous DNA transposons, which are short DNA elements with high copy numbers in eukaryotic genomes.MITEs may play important roles in gene regulation and genome evolution;however, few studies have investigated the molecular mechanisms involved.
