Alternative splicing is a major mechanism for creating multiple mRNAs from a single gene and plays critical role in many biological processes. The inter-individual divergence of alternative splicing has been implicated as a trait associated with diseases; however the intra-individual divergence remains elusive. Here,we employed Jensen-Shannon Divergence(JSD)as the metric to the cell type specificity for the distributions of alternative splicing in the ENCODE cell types and identified high JSD genes in all the cell types.
