Because a rotary total heat exchanger can recover both the sensible heat and the latent heat of air-conditioning exhaust from fresh air ventilation equipments at the same time, it is widely used as energy-saving devices for as a fresh air ventilation system of air-conditioning in buildings.In this paper, the energy saving effect and economic benefits by use of the rotary type total heat exchanger is analyzed for a project example.Because the energy saving effect of the total heat exchanger, an initial investment of the total heat exchanger can be recovered within 2.5 years, for example in region of central China.Certainly, when the total heat exchanger is adopted, the load of the fresh air is lowered, so the load of cooling and heating input becomes small.But, the calculation of above-mentioned investment is rarely considered.Therefore, in the design stage we should plan in a whole about total heat exchanges and HVAC, to gain greater economic effect of the energy saving.
