In an experiment,one hundred twenty eight Cobb 500 broiler breeder hens (＞4.2 kg) were weighed at 59 weeks of age.In order to deplete the hens of their zinc reserves,hens were offered a semi-purified zinc deficient (9.5 mg/kg) diet and consumed water containing approximately 35 μg zinc/l.
