There are increasing numbers of Asian students in universities in the UK, USA/Canada and western Europe. Equally, there are increasing numbers of Western students in universities in China and east Asia. It is often assumed that the approach to argumentation - a quality highly prized in essay and dissertation composition in the West - is different among Asian students brought up in the Confucian-heritage education systems.
