There is only desferrioxamine B (desferal(R) for chronic iron overload and acute iron intoxication. Therefore, the new drug candidates are required for the treatment.Recent genome analyses of microorganisms enable us to reveal cryptic biosynthesis gene clusters of secondary metabolites. In the genome analysis of Streptomyces avermitilis,we found the putative biosynthetic gene cluster for nocardamin or desferrioxamine derivatives (sid operon; from 6,383,181 to 6,390.351nt),of which the productivity by S.avermitilis had been unknown.
