There are a number of serious pest insects that attack fruit crops. My paper will focus on "male sex pheromones" controlling female behavior in two economically important fruit feeders originated in Asian regions-the oriental fruit moth, Grapholita molesta (Lepidoptera:Tortricidae) and the oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis (Diptera: Tephritidae).Females of the oriental fruit moth, a serious pest of apples, peaches, pears etc., secrete sex pheromone (female pheromone) to attact males. The sex pheromone has been used effectively in the integrated pest management of this cosmopolitan species in various countries. Not only the female but also the male moth emits sex pheromone (male pheromone) from its abdominal hairpencils, propelling specific fruity aroma of ethyl trans-cinnamate and (+)-methyl epijasmonate to entice females.
