Aims To evaluate the feasibility, efficacy and safety of BRTO associated with endoscopic Histoacryl injection in treating gastric varices.Methods 5 patients were enrolled and were analyzed using single center, open, prospective study.All patients had been treated in Chinese PLA General Hospital department of Gastroenterology and hepatology from Dec 23rd 2013 to May 24th 2014.Four patients were male, one was female.The patients average age was 55.8 years (41-73 years).Among these 5 patients, 1 was hepatitis C virus related cirrhosis, 3 were hepatitis B virus related cirrhosis and 1 was alcoholic cirrhosis.Child-Pugh class was A in 2 patients, B in 2 patients, C in 1 patient.The gastric varices and gastrorenal shunt were confirmed by endoscopy, abdominal CT scan with contrast and angiography.Patients were treated with BRTO and followed by endoscopic Histoacryl injection.Angiography was performed again after treatment and the microcatheter and balloon cather were removed.
