A group of 26 staphylococcal strains collected from human clinical specimens or hospital environment and classified as Staphylococcus petrasii [1] were investigated in order to elucidate their genotypic and phenotypic diversity. The strains were isolated in different routine clinical laboratories in the Czech Republic between 1994-2013.They were recovered mainly from children or older patients, often immunocompromised, indicating the typical coagulase negative staphylococcal pathogenic behaviour of this species.
