Harmful algal blooms (HABs) have not only caused disastrous damage to economics and ecosystems, but also post a great threat to human health.Biological control of HABs is gradually drawing attentions from researchers for its potential. To develop an effective bio-agent to control the blooms of the harmful algae, a potent alga-lysing bactedum strain LP-10 was isolated from the East China Sea, which could effectively remove Phaeocystis globosa (Prymnesiophyceae).Based on 16S rDNA sequence analysis and morphological characteristics, the strain LP-10 was identified to belong to genus Bacillus with 99% similarity.Further researches revealed that the lytic effect of bacterium Bacillus sp.
