γ-secretase is a multimeric intramembrane protease which responsible for the cleavage of various type-Ⅰ transmembrane proteins.Its proteolytic activity has played an important role in the Familial Alzheimers disease (FAD) pathogenesis as the amyloid plaque,a pathogenic hallmark of AD,was resulted from the abnormal processing of Amyloid precursor protein (APP) by γ-secretase.
