There is strong experimental evidence that oxidative stress is involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer (A)s disease (AD).Amyloid β-protein (Aβ) is the major component and considered to have a causal role in the development and progress of AD.The Aβ protein has been identified as a possible source of oxidative stress in the AD brain because it can acquire a free radical state contributing to its toxic effects.Phytochemicals have long been recognized to possess many properties, including antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,and anticarcinogenic activities.
