A novel bacterium strain,capable of degrading different types of hydrocarbons was isolated from sediments collected from Bohai sea,China.The novel bacterium was designated as QC15T.Phylogenetic,genotypic,chemotaxonomic and phenotypic characterizations were performed to characterize the novel bacterium strain.The results indicated that colonies of the bacterial strain were circular,flat,and orange and cells were Gram-negative,strictly aerobic,rods.Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene revealed that QC15r was affiliated with the family Marinilabiliaceae in the phylum Bacteroidetes,but distinguished from all the genera within this family.The DNA Gr+C content of the strain QC15T was 44.7 mol%.iso-15:0 and anteiso-15:0 were major cellular fatty acids for the novel bacterium strain.MK-7 was the main respiratory quinone.Polar lipids contained phosphatidyl ethanolamine,aminolipid,unidentified phospholipid,and some other unknown lipid.Based on the data from the current polyphasic analysis,a new genus,Hycadegrabacter gen.nov.,with a novel specie Hycadegrabacter bohaiensis sp.nov.,is proposed.
