A single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) is a DNA sequence variation oc.curring in the genome that differs between members of a biological species or paired chromosomes.SNPs are important genetic markers for complex quantitative traits such as fecundity.Seven genes were used in this study to obtain fecundity-related SNPs, including angiotensin converting enzyme, 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA (HMG-CoA) reductase, vitellogenin, vitellogenin receptor, lipophorin receptor, fizzy and sex-lethal, since their mRNA levels were positively related to fecundity in previous research.
