Zein is a kind of edible gliadin.Due to its inherent biodegradability and biocompatibility,zein nanoparticles were successfully applied as a carrier for the controlled release of drugs and dietary supplements [1,2].Owing to its nontoxicity and edibility,CaCO3,is used in a wide range of fields and has shown promising potential for the development of smart carriers for drugs [3].In this paper,edible zein/CaCO3-hybrid nanoparticles (nanoZCa) have been prepared,and applied for controlled drug release.
