The uniform orthorhombic LaFeO3 nanoparticles(NPs)with a narrow size distribution(<10%)have been synthesized by using a facile sol-gel reaction with the assist of graphene oxide. The graphene oxide acts a 2D template vividly to limit nanoparticle growth and inhibit nanoparticle aggregation during annealing process, along with the formation of reduced graphene oxide(rGO).LaFeO3 NPs on rGO sheets have a high photocatalytic activity for the degradation of methylene blue(MB)and Rhodamine B(RhB)under visible light irradiation, while pure LaFeO3 have a much low photocatalytic activity. The signifcant enhancement in photocatalytic properties can be ascribed to the strong coupling between LaFeO3 and rGO and the excellent conductivity of rGO sheets which is favorable for the effcient separation of photo-generated carriers.
