Synergistic activity of mixtures of boscalid and azoxystrobin against Botrytis cinerea

  Gray mould caused by the Botrytis cinerea is a worldwide fungus diseases and is mainly prevented and cured by chemical control.However,the corresponding resistance problem of pathogenic fungus presented generally,resulting in dramatically decrease of the fungicide control effect.At present,many ways have been used to solve the resistance problem,of which the application of the mixture of fungicides with different mechanism is the most common.but the research through mixing the respiratory chain complexes Ⅱ and complex Ⅱ inhibitors is less.In this study,boscalid and azoxystrobin were mixed into different proportions,the inhibitory activity of the mixtures at different ratios to isolates QFD9 and T1-12 were determined by mycelial growth rate method,and the synergistic radio was calculated according to the Wadley formula.The highest and lowest synergistic combinations of QFD9 and T1-12 were selected and the corresponding inhibitory activities to the other two strains(HH,SQ-15)were determined by mycelial growth rate method.The efficiency ratios were confirmed further by detecting the spore germination and sporulation quantity of QFD9.The results showed that the mixtures of boscalid and azoxystrobin(1:1,1:2,1:4,1:6,1:8,2:1,4:1,6:1 and 8:1,m/m)exhibited synergistic activity against the mycelial growth of QFD9 and T1-12,of which the 1:2,1:4 mixtures exhibited the highest significant synergistic effects and the 6:1and 8:1 mixtures showed the lowest effect.The four combinations presented nearly the same inhibitory effect to the other two strains(HH,SQ-15).In the experiment of spores germination,the inhibitory effect of the mixtures the 1:2 and 1:4 presented synergism,whereas the 6:1 and 8:1 characterized by additive and antagonistic action,respectively.In terms of spore production,the inhibitory activity of the mixtures(1:2,1:4,8:1)was similar to that of boscalid and azoxystrobin,but the activity of 6:1 was significantly lower than the others.All the results suggested that the mixtures of 1:2 and 1:4 of boscalid and azoxystrobin might be an potential combining used in controlling of gray mould,solving or delaying the resistance problem of pathogenic bacteria.
