The excess of foreign heavy metal in biodegradable fraction of municipal solid waste (BFMSW) from mixed collection system remains an intractable problem,greatly hampering their beneficial use.Here we report an approach of synchrotron radiation-induced micro-X-ray fluorescence (SR-μXRF) to elucidate the elemental characteristics of contaminated BFMSW.
