  Laser technology offers a modern tool not yet exploited in ceramic tile manufacturing.The implementation of CO2 lasers on industrial processes is being investigated,such as(i)tile sintering in a high-temperature furnace(continuous laser furnace),currently studied under LIFE project CERAMGLASS(www.ceramglass.eu)and(ii)ceramic materials ablation.However,nanoparticle(NP)emissions during laser irradiation of tiles have so far never been evaluated.
