Improved steam co-gasification characteristics of coal and biomass (cedar) blend was observed in comparison to additive behavior of individual coal and biomass gasification.Similar effect was less pronounced during CO2 co-gasification.Morphology of gasified blends reveal hastened changes however BET surface areas are lower than the average surface areas of coal and biomass.Co-pyrolysis char has relatively higher H/C ratio and exhibits higher gasification reactivity than chars mixed after separate pyrolysis of coal and biomass.Hydrogen release behavior suggests its transfer from biomass volatiles to coal, and hence improving reactivity of coal particles during co-gasification.
